A French Tradition You’ll Want to Try This Weekend

Bonsoir !

Crêpes are one of the simplest and most versatile things you can make—no special equipment needed! Just a pan, a few basic ingredients, and you are ready to flip. Whether you enjoy them sweet or savoury, crêpes are perfect for any occasion, but in France, we have a special day dedicated to them: La Chandeleur on February 2nd. Have you ever celebrated it?

What is La Chandeleur?
La Chandeleur, also known as Crêpe Day, is a French tradition celebrated exactly 40 days after Christmas. Originally a religious holiday, it has become a time to gather with family and friends to enjoy stacks of golden crêpes. Superstition says that if you flip a crêpe while holding a coin in your other hand, good fortune will follow for the year ahead!
